The Jamaica Deposit Insurance Corporation (JDIC) in association with the Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre (CARTAC) invites you to the first ever bank insolvency conference to be held in the region. The Conference will be held in Montego Bay, Jamaica, during March 24-26, 2010.
Under the theme ‘Bank Insolvency in the Caribbean: Law and Best Practice' with the sub-name ‘Detecting and Managing Banking Crises: Assessment of the Global Financial Crisis of 2007-2009’, the Conference is intended to facilitate dialogue between Caribbean and other professionals and enable participants to consider and identify best practices for addressing bank insolvency issues.
The current global financial crisis has underscored the importance of bank regulation, financial system stability, and the necessity for countries to have an efficient resolution regime.
Experts from the region and several other countries including Canada, Japan, Malaysia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and multinational agencies will provide their perspectives on topics which include:
- Risk, Contagion and Financial Stability
- The International Legal Framework: Institutional Preconditions, Principal Legal Issues and Cross Border Concerns
- College of Insurance Regulation in the supervision of financial conglomerates
- Deposit Insurance: Fostering Confidence in the Financial System

The Conference targets professionals from Caribbean Central Banks, Heads of financial institutions and regulatory/supervisory agencies, Legal Counsel of deposit taking and non-deposit taking financial institutions, Accountants, Auditors, Insolvency Practitioners, Judges of the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, Attorneys in private practice and the Offices of the Attorney-General, Offices of the Trustee in Bankruptcy, Risk Professionals, Chief Financial Officers, representatives from Ministries of Finance and other organizations with an interest in bank insolvency.
